Different Timecode Modes

Different Timecode Modes

Different Timecode Modes: Rec Run (Record Run)
This means your recorder will send timecode when you are recording and otherwise stop timecode until you start recording again. This usually starts at 00:00:00 and so a 30 second recording and a 45 second recording will mean your timecode for the next file will start at 00:01:15, since 30+45=75 seconds or 1 minute 15 seconds.

Free Run – Different Timecode Modes
This is where your recorder will generate its own timecode and keep running regardless of recording or off and you set this value manually. This is good for if you are the master source and are jamming other sources such as cameras. Obviously keep a check on them throughout the day.

24h Run (24 hour Run) – Different Timecode Modes
This is generating timecode like Free Run but to the time of day. Runs regardless of recording or not.

Ext-TC (External Time Code) – Different Timecode Modes
This is a reading mode where your recorder will follow its timecode from an external source from its inputs. If the signal is stopped then your timecode will also stop. Recording is started manually by you.

Ext-TC Auto-Rec (External Time Code Auto-Record) – Different Timecode Modes
This is the same as Ext-TC but with an auto record function. When the source such as a camera starts recording your device will automatically start and the reverse for when the camera stops.

Ext-TC/Cont (External Time Code Continuous) – Different Timecode Modes
This is the same as Ext-TC where you need to manually start recording. However if the timecode source is removed it will keep running continuously from the last signal number and when reconnected auto-correct it’s self.

Ext-TC Auto-Rec/Cont (External Time Code Auto-Record Continuous) – Different Timecode Modes
This is all the Ext-TC modes combined and so will record when timecode pulse is sensed and then stop when stopped. Will continue running timecode if source is disconnected but then you will have to manually start/stop recording.
